Facility – Biocompatibility Laboratory

Description
Biocompatibility Laboratory is hosting under IJN-UTM Cardiovascular Engineering Centre (IJN). This laboratory is specifically developed to accommodate research on biocompatible and bioactive materials, associated with the performance ability of materials on cells/tissues. Several in-vitro biocompatibility cell studies which are currently on-going in this laboratory are cell viability/toxicity, cell attachment, cell integration, cell proliferation, cell staining, cell scratch, hemolysis, cell coagulation and alkaline phosphatase activity (ALP) analyses. Besides, an electrospinning procedure is performed in this laboratory to fabricate thin mesh fibre membranes for applications of wound dressing, vascular and cardiac grafting membranes.
Equipments
Analysis Service
MTT viability/cytotoxicity and Proliferation Analysis:
Min RM1900 for human skin fibroblast cells (HSF1184) analysis. Additional charge is subjected for analysis on human foetal osteoblast cells (hFOB) and human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVEC).
The analysis includes:
- Direct in-vitro test or
- Indirect in-vitro test
- Cell viability/toxicity percentage data
No. of samples: Max 3 types of samples
Timepoint: 3 timepoints within a week
Measurement replication: Triplication measurement for each type of sample
*The term/content of analysis package is tolerable based on the requirement. All analyses are compliance with ISO 10993
Cell Migration Analysis or Cell Scratch Assay:
Min RM1900 for human skin fibroblast cells (HSF1184) analysis. Additional charge is subjected for analysis on human foetal osteoblast cells (hFOB) and human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVEC).
The analysis includes:
- Direct in-vitro test or
- Indirect in-vitro test
- Fluorescence images of cell migration
No. of samples: Max 3 types of samples
Timepoint: 1 timepoint within 24 hours
Measurement replication: Triplication measurement for each type of sample
*The term/content of analysis package is tolerable based on the requirement. All analyses are compliance with ISO 10993
Cell Attachment/Integration Analysis:
Min RM3000 for human skin fibroblast cells (HSF1184) analysis. Additional charge is subjected for analysis on human foetal osteoblast cells (hFOB) and human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVEC).
The analysis includes:
